What Are the Ground Clearance Specifications of the 2025 Kia Sportage?

The 2025 Kia Sportage is available in seven trim levels. How does the ground clearance for the Sportage change throughout the trim lineup? Let’s take a look! 2025 Kia Sportage Ground Clearance What is the ground clearance of the 2025 Sportage? All Kia Sportage models with a front-wheel drive transmission have 7.1 inches of ground clearance, while the all-wheel drive models offer 8.3 inches. What are the trim levels with 7.1-inches and 8.3-inches of ground clearance? The Kia Sportage LX, Sportage EX, Sportage SX, and SX Prestige Front-Wheel Drive models have a 7.1-inch ground clearance. The Sportage LX, EX, X-Line AWD, SX Prestige, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige with All-Wheel Drive have 8.3 inches of ground clearance. If you’re looking for a Sportage that’s higher off the ground, check out one of these trim options. more Factors Affecting Ground Clearance The most likely scenario where you'll see noticeable drops in ground clearance is when you're pulling a trailer or hauling a heavy load. As more weight gets loaded on the vehicle's suspension, its springs compress, causing the vehicle and its frame to move closer to the ground. If you're driving on underinflated tires, your Kia could have a lower clearance from the ground without adding any additional weight. Ground Clearance Pros With a high ground clearance, you'll probably feel safer behind the wheel. Visibility is another benefit when your vehicle is high off the ground. You'll be able to see more of the road and upcoming hazards, so you’ll have more time to anticipate other drivers' actions and plan your own. You also have the option of navigating a larger variety of terrain compared to vehicles that are lower to the ground. Raising Your Vehicle's Ground Clearance There are some modifications you can make to increase your vehicle’s ground clearance. Adding larger tires is an easy way to raise ground clearance. Before choosing a set, check that it fits the wheels on your model and will fit comfortably inside the wheel well. See the Ground Clearance of the Sportage at Our Temple Hills, MD Kia Dealership With seven different trims to choose from, there's a Kia Sportage that will work well for your family. Catalytic Converter | Temple Hills, MD

What to Do If Your Car Smells Like Gas

The strong smell of gas is very unpleasant, and it's even worse if you smell it coming from your car. When your Kia works as smoothly and efficiently as it was designed, you should never smell gas. A gas smell is automatically a sign that something has gone wrong. Fortunately, your Kia dealer in Temple Hills, MD, can repair the problem. These are some of the reasons your car smells like gas. Advice From Your Kia Dealer: Why Your Car Smells Like Gas Damaged Converter Efficient combustion in our engine requires a precise 14:1 mixture of air to fuel. This might seem strange, but the huge amount of air is essential for the spark plugs to ignite correctly. Combustion generates toxic gases and also contains fuel residue. Once combustion has been completed in a cylinder, the gases and other residue are dumped into the catalytic converter. more The catalytic converter converts the fuel residue and gases into harmless chemicals. The converter chemicals then pass out of the exhaust pipe. Your converter can wear out through age or can be damaged by engine problems like a high fuel-air ratio. A damaged converter won't convert the residue, and you'll smell gas from the engine and tailpipe. We'll examine your converter, and we can install a replacement if necessary. Worn Fuel Pressure Regulator As we saw above, your engine requires a precise mixture of air and fuel for combustion. Air enters through the radiator grille and passes into the air filter, where any debris is removed. The clean air then passes into the intake manifold. Fuel is pumped into the intake manifold through the fuel injectors. The fuel pressure regulator is responsible for the amount of fuel that enters the manifold. Your Kia's computer determines the correct balance of air to fuel and instructs the regulator to supply the required quantity of fuel. A worn or damaged regulator could supply too much fuel. If the fuel level in the manifold is too high, some of its fumes will escape and can waft into your cabin. We can test your regulator and replace it with a new one if required. Loose or Damaged Gas Cap The gas cap has two main functions. It's responsible for maintaining the correct pressure in the fuel system, and it prevents fuel fumes from escaping the tank. The fuel system must operate at a set pressure to ensure that fuel is always delivered to the cylinders at the correct rate. Your gas cap is designed to provide an air-tight seal, but wear and tear can damage the cap or its seals. If this happens, you'll likely smell fuel in your cabin, the check engine light will illuminate, and your fuel efficiency will drop. Our technicians can easily replace a damaged cap or its seals to help fix this problem. If you smell gas from your Kia, call our service department immediately at DARCARS Kia of Temple Hills.

6 Tips to Make Parallel Parking a Breeze

One type of parking that troubles many drivers is parallel parking. Although it can take some time to master, this form of parking can allow you to park in an otherwise inaccessible space. As your Kia dealer, we'd like to give you a few tips to make your next parking experience a breeze. You can find more tips for student drivers here. Advice From Your Kia Dealer: 6 Tips to Help Make Parallel Parking Easy 1.    Find the Parking Space As you become more proficient at this type of parking, you can park in very small spaces. When you're improving your parking skills, it's best to choose a parking space that is at least 1.5 times the size of your car. This size parking spot provides plenty of room for any adjustments you need to make. The additional space also helps to give you confidence, as there should be sufficient space. more 2.    Take Your Time Take your time trying to park. As long as you're not blocking traffic, you can take as long as you need to park. Parking slowly can make the process seem simpler and more controlled. 3.    Line Up With the Car in Front Watch for traffic behind you, and move your car into position adjacent to the vehicle in front of the parking space. Allow two to three feet between your car and the parked car. Once you're positioned with your rear wheel adjacent to the parked car, you're in position. 4.    Reverse Shift into reverse gear and turn your wheel to the right. This will move your wheels toward the curb. Control your speed as you reverse, and watch the car before you to ensure you stay a safe distance apart. This is a part of the process that requires the most concentration. You'll need to regularly check your mirrors so you don't bump the curb, and you'll need to watch the rear of the car in front. 5.    Now Turn the Wheel to the Left Once you're almost in the parking space, you'll be approximately 18" from the curb. At this point, turn your wheel towards the left. This will help straighten your wheels and place you inside the parking space. 6.    Position Your Car in the Space Once you're in the parking space, you may need to adjust your car's position. It's essential to leave sufficient space in front of and behind your vehicle so you can quickly drive out of the parking space. You may need to move your car forward or backward to ensure you're correctly positioned. We're sure these tips will help with parking in the future. As with any skill, the more you practice, the easier and more fluid the process will become. If you'd like more driving tips, come and see us at DARCARS Kia of Temple Hills.
